Improving outcomes for children living with cancer
Image

Dr. Sapna Oberoi is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at CCMB and Scientist at the Institute. Her research program focuses on enhancing symptom management, especially mental health and supportive care of children, adolescents, and young adults (AYAs) with cancer to improve their overall outcomes, cancer experience, and quality of life during and after their cancer treatment. Her research involves engaging and partnering with patients, using quantitative and qualitative approaches, and routinely collecting population-based administrative data. Addressing disparities in cancer care of children and AYAs with cancer is an essential goal of this research.

Another important aspect of Dr. Oberoi’s research is to improve the outcomes of children and AYAs with sarcomas. She is a young investigator with the soft tissue sarcoma committee of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), currently working on several projects to improve the treatment and outcome of children and adolescents with soft-tissue sarcomas.
