Research Summary

Dr Rimmer’s research program focuses on the application of plasma exchange in septic shock. She is leading a national pilot trial aiming to assess the feasibility of a therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) in septic shock, with embedded translational studies to assess the biologic effect of TPE in septic shock.

To conduct patient-centered clinical trials in therapeutic apheresis

Research Biography

Dr. Rimmer is a hematologist and clinician investigator at CancerCare Manitoba. She completed her medical school training (2006), followed by residency in Internal Medicine and Haematology (2011) at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Rimmer completed a clinical and research fellowship in bleeding disorders at the University of Manitoba and Queen's University (2013). She is the medical director of the Therapeutic Apheresis program in Manitoba. She completed a Master's of Science degree in Community Health Sciences (2018). Her research interests are in the areas of therapeutic apheresis and the application of trajectory analysis in hematology.
