Research Summary

Advances in our understanding of the mutational landscape of cancer is the primary driver of the ongoing expansion of precision medicine. For this, newly discovered biomarkers must be systematically and rigorously translated into specific clinical utility. My research interest in cancer biomarker development spans a broad spectrum of translational science. My past research work includes integrative, multi-omic profiling of prostate and other cancer types, functional characterization of specific biomarkers as well as analytical and clinical validations towards specific diagnostic, prognostic and predictive utility. My current research focuses on the use of multiple testing modalities and analytes to optimize the molecular diagnostic algorithms for solid and hematological malignancies.

Goals

My research goals are to leverage my past experiences and my current expertise in collaborations with other investigators towards the development of study design, methodology and quality metrics in biomarker development projects.

Research Biography

Dr. Park received his PhD and MD training at the University of Toronto. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto) as an American Foundation for Urologic Diseases (AFUD) Scholar, and received further research training at the SickKids (Toronto) and Brigham and Womens' Hospital (Boston). Prior to joining the CCMB Research Institute, he held an adjunct faculty position at the Queen's University (Kingston) as the extramural Transformative Pathology Fellow at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
